In My Mailbox #1 The Third by Abel Keogh

Monday, April 11, 2011
The ThirdThis is my first time participating in the In My Mailbox meme (hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren).

This week I received The Third by Abel Keogh as an ARC from his publicist. Here's the cover copy:

When Ransom Lawe, a recycler in the Pacific Northwest, finds out his wife is pregnant with their third—and therefore illegal—child, he’s forced to choose between the government who proclaims a desire to save the planet and his hope for a place where his family can live in freedom. But with the Census Bureau Sentinels closing in on his wife and unborn child, Ransom’s choice will either save his family or tear them apart forever.

Abel Keogh offers a stark and haunting look at a not-so-distant future in this chilling new novel. Crossing lines between good and evil, freedom and oppression, and political and environmental responsibility, The Third is a gut-wrenching tale of intense loyalty and unconditional love.

I really like the cover, especially the embossed/heavy white font. It stands out against all the earthy colors going on. It conveys the feel of the book really well.

I'll be posting a review/giveaway soon.

Random:

Don't forget to sign up to review a copy of WITCH SONG.

  1. Sounds great! :) I just noticed you've had a few requests for the full of Daughter of Winter! Awesome! :D I'm excited for you!

  1. Mmm I haven't heard of this book, but that cover is awesome!

  1. Thanks, Chantele!
Samita: It does have a rather nice cover.

  1. It's a nice cover but not as cool as the cover for Witch Song.

  1. That looks amazing. Can't wait to read your review on it.

So, I've been watching my mailbox and Witch Song still isn't there awaiting my review...

My delicate Faery wings are starting to droop in disappointment and all Fae fruit and Faery wine has lost it's appeal... I'm afraid I shall perish her with my faithful Faery court surrounding me, their little wings aflutter, in worry for me.... I imagine a package from Amber Argyle with a review copy of Witch Song could help save the Faery in The Book Faery...

(Kristi peeks and sees if her appeal has worked it's magic on Amber...)

    Come see my WOW!

    Kristi's WOW

  1. Michael: That's a given. ;)

Kristi: Patience, my little fairy. We haven't even received the ARCs from the printer yet. So NO ONE has received a copy. They probably won't go out until the first of May. :)

  1. Yours is coming, Amber! I save the best for last! I would love to have it on my 'What I'm reading now' list.
Of course, I wouldn't issue a review until you or your publicist wanted me to.... there's changes to my site now... ;0]
So, they'll be hot off the press in a few weeks?
Now that's exciting! I need to make a widget!

  1. I know! I'm super excited.

You know how to make widgets? I need to make a countdown one, but I want my cover in the background and I can't figure it out.
