{Giveaway} The Elite (Kiera Cass)

Imagine that "The Bachelor" was actually a prince complete with castle and balls. Now imagine that we're in a dystopian future where people are trying to kill the contestants. Throw in a love triangle and you have The Elite by Kiera Cass.

The flow and plot kinda remind me of something Shannon Hale might write. I totally had Cinderella vibes. A very poor girl enters the Selection (as all girls must) and is chosen by the Prince. But our main character is already in love, thank you very much. The Ugly Stepsisters are present as other contestants, and some of them are actually rather nice.

There are no mice. Or magical pumpkins. Or glass slippers.

There is, however, a ball. And beautiful gowns. And an evil stepmother (or possible future father-in-law/king).

Loved it.

And you can win my ARC! Fill out the form below to enter. Thanks so much to Jean BookNerd for donating a book for the giveaway.

The Elite is actually the second book in the series, so make sure to start with the first:

  1. Fairytales, I LOVE fairytales. Having to choose one? That is incredibly hard. I think I Beauty and the beast because I truly believe that it is what's inside that counts. And people can always change.

    Don't judge a book by it's cover. :)

    ReplyDelete

  29. My favorite fairy tale is Cinderella because I loved he concept of someone small getting the chance to get far in her life. If you have read Marissa Meyers's book Cinder then you can see how beautiful the story of Cinderella is and how people can totally twist the story to make it so much more relatable and modern. The Selection, to me, is a Cinderella story waiting to be told. This series is not done and we haven't seen our Cinderella get the happy ending she has been waiting for.

  30. My favorite fairy tale character is Cinderella because I love the story how someone can struggle so much in their life and finally find their happy ending. If you have read Marissa Meyers's book, Cinder, then you can understand how Cinderella's story an be changed and altered into a piece of work that is more relatable and modern. In the Selection, our Cinderella's story is not finished and I wonder what journey she'll take to find the happy ending she has been waiting for.

  54. Thanks for the opportunity to win one of your books!

  55. Oops, I didn't mention the fairy tale. Okay, as far as Disney goes, I am a HUGE Beauty and the Beast fan because it gives the message that looks do not equal love. Kindness, caring, laughter, understanding are all examples in that story that show what love is. And of course, Belle loves books, just as I do! Which I think shows that intelligence is another thing to consider when it comes to love.

  56. My fave is Ariel's story heheheh idk why but I just used to love the sea :))

    ReplyDelete
  57. I love Princess and the Pea. In my "special box" up in my closet I still have the little tiny book of it I got when I was young. I always really loved the artwork in my copy. Thanks for the giveaway! :)

  64. I love beauty and the beast and sleeping beauty i just love the stories

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm agreeing with some of the other posts in that I LOVE Beauty and the Beast--the heroine loves to read, is smart and that yellow dress!! Also, the more important message--being prideful and judging a book by its cover.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I liked Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, especially The Nightingale and The Little Match Girl.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks for the fantastic giveaway! That's a bit hard for me as I love fairy tales. If I had to choose it'd be the little match girl, it's just so sad and really taught me how to share and appreciate what you have...yes these morals stood out to me even when I was a child...for this book anyway.

  68. My favorite fairy tale is the 7 Swan Brothers. Cute story and shows how far someone is willing to go to help someone they love.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  70. My fave fairy tale is Cinderella.

  71. Forgot to post why I love Cinderella. I just love her story. How she came from living with her evil stepmother and stepsisters to marrying the prince. She went to the ball even when she wasn't supposed to. She took control of her life right at that moment I think. So that's why Cinderella is my favorite. Thanks for the chance!
